Hello all! The first day we arrived in Stirling, we drove by the The Kelpies, the amazing sculptures of ancient Scottish transforming mythological monsters. We also passed the Stirling Bridge, which was where the Battle of Stirling Bridge took place. This was portrayed (although we've heard inaccurately) in the opening scenes of Braveheart. This was the start to the First War of Scottish Independence. William Wallace was one of the patriot leaders of the battle and there is a monument in his honor on our campus. This weekend, the city is celebrating the end of the war and the success of the Battle of Bannockburn. There will be fireworks when the sun goes down! After the Stirling Bridge, we were given a brief introduction to the town and dropped off at the wonderful University of Stirling.
