Hello all! Our first weekend in Scotland, Zach and I took a three day trip to the Isle of Skye through MacBackpackers on the recommendation of the lovely Elizabeth Davis. It was the most amazing trip. On our way to the Highlands we stopped for lunch at a lovely town (which I cannot remember the name) and ate with a beautiful view of the river. When we came to the entrance of the Highlands, our bus driver Duncan had us all drink a sip of Scotch, reminiscent of the Scottish tradition of passing around a Quaich at a celebration. Then we traveled on to Loch Morlich, a freshwater loch at the base of the Cairngorm Mountains. Our next stop was Loch Ness where we did a wee bit of Nessie Hunting. Some of the people in our group chose to go for a swim in Loch Ness, but it was too cold for me! We also saw some wonderful views of the ruins of Urquhart Castle. Although the bus ride was long, it was full of breathtaking views and awesome tales of Scottish history/folklore by Duncan our fearless leader. We ended in Kyleakin at a wonderful Hostel in need of food and rest from a long day of travel.
Some sweet Scottish Sounds below
Stay tuned for more of the Isle of Skye
